about the island of Martha's Vineyard. Barnacle Point is located in
Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard, an island off the coast of Massachusetts. Most
visitors arrive via the Steamship
Authority and take the half hour ferry from Wood's Hole, MA to get to the
island.

to Wood's Hole, MA. The island of Martha's Vineyard offers beautiful beaches,
miles of bike trails, terrific hiking, excellant fishing, lovely towns to wander
around, several lighthouses, and lots of history for those interested in discovering
the past.
Beaches Martha's Vineyard has roughly 125 miles of shoreline
with two excellent ones, State Beach and South Beach within easy access of the
house.
History Walking in Edgartown leads you back in time, past
stately homes built by prosperous whaling captains and churches dating back to
the mid-1800s. Some of these Greek Revival, Colonial, and Federal-style structures,
including the Old Whaling Church and the Fisher House, are owned by the island's
preservation trust and are open for tours. The Carnegie offers historic walking tours that may be of interest.
Hiking There are hundreds
of acres of preserved forest, field, and shore for those looking for day hikes.
Cedar Creek Neck Wildlife Sanctuary in West Tisbury has marked trails leading
through 400 acres of woodland, complete with ponds and streams, ending on
the beach with a view of the Elizabeth Islands. Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, with four miles of trails through woodlands, meadows, ponds, salt marsh, and along shorelines, is on the way from the house heading to Edgartown.
